Tom Brady recalls 'the phone call that changed his life' by introducing him to future wife Gisele

Tom Brady reflected on the beginnings of his longstanding romance with wife Gisele Bundchen in a new interview. 

The 44-year-old superstar athlete recently sat down with WSJ. Magazine and recalled plucking up the courage to call the supermodel way back when.

Gisele and the football legend have been married for 12 blissful years and Brady gushed that the Brazilian beauty is ‘the love of my life.’

‘I think the one phone call that changed my life was my friend Ed, who called me one day and he said, “I have this girl and I think you should call her,”‘ Tom recollected.

Ed, it turns out, was quite the match maker since the girl in question was Victoria’s Secret Angel Gisele.

‘I ended up calling her and it ended up being the love of my life,’ he continued, revealing that the catwalker first sent him to voicemail. ‘She didn’t pick up, actually. I had to leave a voicemail.’

Tom and Gisele started dating in 2006 – right around the same time he broke things off with his ex Bridget who was pregnant with his child at the time. They tied the knot in 2009.

Tom and Gisele were chatting with the WSJ ahead of the launch of his first line of men’s training and active wear in December. 

‘He loves clothes way more than I do,’ Tom’s wife Gisele Bündchen admitted. 

‘I ended up calling her and it ended up being the love of my life,’ he continued, revealing that the catwalker first sent him to voicemail. ‘She didn’t pick up, actually. I had to leave a voicemail.’

‘He has great taste and understands and really cares about what people want, what can help them feel good. That’s what fashion is about.’

The seven-time Super Bowl champ said the Brazilian 41-year-old ‘obviously got incredible taste.’

‘In the end, I think she’s very much a hippie,’ Tom described. ‘She’d just prefer to wear, like, a simple little dress in 80-degree weather and, you know, just chill out.’ 

The married couple of 12 years have two children – son Benjamin, 11; daughter Vivian, 10 – and Brady fathered 14-year-old son John from his two-year relationship with Bridget Moynahan, which ended in 2006.

Brady is looking forward to retirement when he can take his three children for extended cruises on his new $6M 77-foot Wajer and his 40ft ‘Viva a Vida’ superyacht.

‘No one can go anywhere,’ the 6ft4in athlete said conspiratorially. ‘They’re captive. I almost want to put my kids on the boat like, ‘You’re hanging with us – that’s how it’s going to go.”

In the 13-page feature in the fall men’s issue – hitting newsstands Saturday – Tom showcased his chiseled features as well as his newest venture.

Brady will make his triumphant return to Foxborough’s Gillette Stadium this Sunday when the Bucs face off against is old team the New England Patriots.

‘That one will be really fun for me,’ the reigning Super Bowl MVP smiled. ‘Just because I know everybody, you know? I’ve played more games in that stadium than anybody. I know that place like the back of my hand.’ 

Tom signed a $30M-per-year free agent contract extension through the 2022 season with the Buccaneers on March 12.
