Travel announcement LIVE: Holiday update IMMINENT as Shapps eyes new plan

    [ad_1]

THE Government will today decide whether to ease international travel restrictions, which would be a late season boost for the suffering tourism industry.Although Europe has relaxed travel restrictions for people who are fully vaccinated, double jabbed Britons returning to the UK are still required to fork out for expensive Covid tests.Travel companies have warned that if the Government fails to scrap the tests and the so-called traffic light system, more job losses will follow. Both the lateral flow tests required to be taken before travellers depart their destination and the PCR tests taken upon arrival in Britain are set to be axed, according to reports.

With winter approaching – when fewer people travel abroad – and with the Government’s furlough scheme ending later this month, today’s announcement could be make or break for many in the travel industry.
