Flash flooding has sparked chaos on the streets across much of the south of England this afternoon. Dramatic footage posted on social media shows cars stranded on the A406 – and the heavy rain is set to continue into next week. The Met Office has warned that homes and businesses are at risk as the wet weather takes its toll on the country.
Clips online show desperate drivers trying to move through the flood waters.
One person tweeted: “Okay so everyone who’s in East London, stay home and avoid driving.”
Another person added: “This is so insane, some streets are knee-deep in water.”
London Fire Brigade said it had taken 130 calls over just an hour and a half on Sunday afternoon.
