Sweltering conditions are poised to engulf the whole nation from next week as an area of high pressure sweeps in, new maps suggest. And, the latest maximum temperature charts produced by Netweather.TV show large areas of the UK turning a shade of dark red as sizzling heat blowtorches the country.
According to the latest weather maps, Britons can expect thermometers to reach the high 20Cs early next week.
The mercury is then expected to soar further and peak at 30C on Wednesday, September 8.
The September heat blast is being triggered by plumes of “very warm air” moving over from southern Europe.
The latest forecast by The Weather Outlook says: “The meteorological summer has ended but hot weather may not yet be done with us yet this year!
“During the coming days high pressure moves away eastwards and that allows very warm air from southern Europe to filter northwards.
“Temperatures may climb towards 30C (86F) early next week, but with low pressure approaching from the southwest a lot of uncertainty remains.”
The Weather Outlook’s temperature models predict thermometers will peak at 27C across the southeast of England on Monday, September 6.
The chart predicts temperatures this weekend will be between 3C and 5C above average for the time of the year – with highs of 24C expected.
Netweather.TV tweeted: “A change is on the way for those parts of the UK that have not been seeing warm sunshine.
“High pressure sliding away over Scandinavia this weekend after so long with that N/NE breeze off the North Sea.
“Mid, even high 20sC next week.”
