The Crown gives Netflix subscribers an insight into the history of the Royal Family, starting from when Queen Elizabeth II (played by Claire Foy in season one) first came to power. Fast-forward decades later and series five will focus on what happened to the world’s most famous family in the 1990s. As royalists already know, this was a particularly dramatic period in their lives, filled with scandal.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from The Crown.
In The Crown season four, then-Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor) and Diana Spencer (Emma Corrin) got married in a lavish ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral.
Their marriage was doomed from the offset though as the drama portrays him not liking his new wife taking up the media spotlight.
But probably, even more, important is that he was still in love with his ex-girlfriend Camilla Parker-Bowles (Emerald Fennell).
Nevertheless, despite his vows to Princess Diana, King Charles III continued to have an affair with Camilla.

Who plays Camilla in The Crown season 5?
The Crown is known for recasting its lead characters every couple of series and season five will be no different.
Actress Emerald Fennell was behind the future Queen Consort in series three and four but now another British star will be stepping into her shoes.
Camilla is going to be played by actress Olivia Williams in season five, as well as the final sixth series.
The 53-year-old has been in various TV shows and films throughout her colourful career.
Williams was spotted earlier this year filming for the new season of royal period drama.
She was seen wearing a long green trench coat which was very similar to the one the real Camilla wore in 1995.
In addition, Williams had Camilla’s signature bob to finish off the royal look.
Series five will be paying very close attention to this particular year in the family’s lives.
At the beginning of 1995, Camilla and her husband Andrew Parker Bowles announced their divorce.
It was in this year as well that Princess Diana gave an unforgettable interview for the BBC.
She spoke of Charles and Camilla, stating: “There were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded.”
The Crown season 5 premieres on Wednesday, November 9, on Netflix.
