EXCLUSIVE: X Factor’s Jason Owen reveals he’s ‘furious’ after his 120 wedding guests were put on high alert for covid-19 symptoms after a couple travelled from Victoria to Queensland

Australian singer and Former X Factor star Jason Owen has shared his frustration after wedding guests were put on high alert for covid-19 this month.

The 27-year-old, who married new wife Becy in Albert in regional NSW on June 5, told Daily Mail Australia that the situation has ‘put a dampener’ on the day.

Jason and Becy’s guests were put on high alert after a mystery couple – not guests –  travelled from Victoria to Queensland through regional NSW before testing positive for coronavirus.

The infected couple reportedly left Melbourne on June 1 and arrived in Queensland last week, where they received a positive test result. The couple made headlines for their road trip.

They visited venues in Forbes and Dubbo, where a lot of Jason and Becy’s guests were staying for their big day.

Jason is particularly enraged as they previously postponed their wedding in November last year due to coronavirus restrictions and to keep everyone safe.

‘I’m furious that people can be so disrespectful when it comes to ignoring government guidelines as people’s health and lives are at stake. It’s just appalling stupidity,’ Jason told Daily Mail Australia this week.

Jason said people in the central west of NSW are ‘nervous’ about travellers coming into their local towns because of the covid risks and the mouse plague.

He added: ‘It also puts the 120 guests who attended our wedding on high alert thanks to the selfishness of this couple.’

‘We already had to postpone our wedding once back in November due to COVID measures, so it’s distressing to see this issue arising once more and putting a dampener on what was supposed to be a happy occasion.’

Jason and Becy tied the knot in Albert on June 5, in front of 120 guests.

The pair organised an incredible day which featured elaborate floral displays, a three-tiered wedding cake and two stunning wedding dresses for the bride.

The couple first said ‘I do’ in a church in Albert that his great grandmother helped establish.

They then enjoyed a reception and Italian feast at Soul Food Depot and Gallery at Narromine, near Jason’s hometown of Dubbo.

Jason, 27, who finished runner-up to Samantha Jade on The X Factor back in 2012, looked dapper on the day in beige trousers, a white shirt and a dark suit jacket and tie.

After tying the knot, Jason shared a selfie of the pair together and captioned it: ‘Surprise! We are now Mr and Mrs Owen. More pictures of the best day of my life to come.’

The pair enjoyed a romantic honeymoon in the Whitsundays, in Queensland, on Hamilton Island.
