Arsenal and Barcelona get Raheem Sterling boost as Man City name their price for January

Guardiola has already gone public with his desire to hang on to Sterling, but much will depend on the forward’s game time between now and the New Year.

City are not believed to be willing to facilitate a departure for Sterling in January.

But Sterling will have just 18 months left on his deal when 2022 comes around; meaning it’s likely that City would rather admit defeat and sanction a departure for the versatile star next summer than lose him the following year for nothing.

Talks over a new deal have stalled in recent weeks, despite the club seeming eager to tie Sterling down to fresh terms after his starring role for England during their Euro 2020 campaign.
