Christian Eriksen, Men's Health Week and my decision to change my life

It was May 2020 when I finally decided to change that. My fiancee had started her Slimming World journey months beforehand and was feeling so much better because of it. I’d been to some groups with her and been tempted to sign up, but always talked myself out of it.

“I’m a man, we don’t do things like that” were the types of thoughts I had going through my head. Despite the fact that I’d reached the heaviest weight I’ve ever been and was suffering from gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), I was letting something stupid stop me from taking action and improving my health.

Enough was enough. It was time to bite the bullet and thanks to some incredible support from my fiancee and Slimming World consultant, I signed up.

Fast-forward one year to May 2021 and let me tell you that I’ve never felt better in my body. I’ve lost over 2.5 stone in weight, my GERD has improved, my diet and lifestyle has been turned on its head and I’m feeling so much better in myself. I’m also engaged now with my wedding booked and looking to buy my first home – plus enjoying my new role working within Reach Plc as a Social Media Editor in Sport.

I’ve also noticed a significant improvement in my mental health, which has been tested at times thanks to the coronavirus pandemic and the chaos that it leaves in its wake.
