Disabled woman refused McDonald’s Happy Meal at drive-thru

Lynne Holman visited a drive-thru window at a McDonald’s in Loughborough, Leicestershire, and asked for a chicken nugget Happy Meal. However, her order was rejected, and she was told she could have a medium chicken nugget meal instead.

She agreed and drove on to pay at the next window but spotted lots of people walking out of the restaurant with Happy Meals.

When she questioned staff they said the manager had ordered that Happy Meals were only for customers that walked into the store, and not for those using the drive-thru.

Ms Holman said she was not able to walk into the store to make her order because she is disabled and feels she has been “discriminated”.

“I emailed them saying that I was disgusted with them thinking that all I wanted was vouchers. I just think it is so sad that people with disabilities are discriminated against and this needs to stop.”

A spokesperson for McDonald’s said: “We are aware of this customer’s complaint and our customer services team is working with both the customer and the restaurant to find a resolution.”
