Good to see they understand finance! SNP ruthlessly mocked over plan to leave pound

The news comes after SNP delegate Cameron Archibald, of the City of Stirling Branch, made the huge claim. The delegate said: “Scotland faces a grim future when faced with the challenges of Brexit Britain, Westminster austerity, COVID-19 and the impending climate change crisis. In an independent Scotland which is once again fiscally and monetary sovereign, we can increase public sector employment to the levels of our Scandinavian neighbours.”

Reacting to the news an reader said: “As an SNP member of the Scottish Parliament has already quoted ‘we don’t need the pound as everyone pays by plastic now’ Good to see they have a firm understanding of finance!”

Another said: “Dear God, that’s the best quote of the week.

“Good luck Scotland because it looks like you’re going to need it.”

The SNP’s Mr Archibald added: “We want our independent Scotland to thrive and contribute to its success in the world.

The SNP has planned a four-day virtual event that will touch on their plans for combatting climate change and restarting the economy after the coronavirus pandemic.

At the virtual event, they also plan to discuss next year’s local council elections and their commitment to a second independence referendum.

The news comes after the SNP Westminster leader Ian Blackford plans to announce that his party will “stay true to our word” and give voters in Scotland a second referendum vote.

In a speech addressed to SNP voters this afternoon, Mr Blackford is expected to say that is “a manifesto promise we made to the Scottish people”.

He will also that it is a “democratic promise we will keep”.

The MP is expected to add: “Westminster has already chosen its future.

“A jobs-destroying Brexit, the return of Tory austerity cuts and more attacks on devolution.”
