There’s no doubt about it, Hamish Blake is a man of many talents.
And on Friday, the 39-year-old took it upon himself to create yet another elaborate 3D cake.
Posting to his Instagram Stories, the Lego Masters host documented the lengthy process to create a flying unicorn cake, as requested by his four-year-old daughter Rudy for her birthday.

Alongside his wife Zoë Foster Blake, Hamish admitted he’d had a power nap as he braved for the long night ahead of cake decorating.
Beginning the process just after 7pm, Hamish revealed his daughter briefed him to make: ‘A unicorn, flapping its wings, with a rainbow coming out of its mouth, under a cloud, that’s raining glitter.’
Using a mix of tie-dyed coloured sponge cake, rice puffs and icing, he began his baking adventure.

‘In all seriousness, I’ve burnt myself on marshmallow, I have yellow hands, I better get down to it,’ he said at 7:30pm.
‘I’m probably gonna be mucking around a little bit, that’s alright, we’re having fun. One hour, I’ll check back at 9:30.’
And sure enough he did, with tequilla and whiskey in hand – he soldiered on.

After a few mishaps, Hamish managed to get to work on the floating cloud.
To do so, he hung a plastic plate with another cake on a set of hanging lights.
He then used fishing line, to hook the cloud-cake above the unicorn.
After several attempts at perfecting the rainbow fondant which was placed on the unicorn’s mouth, Hamish woke his wife up, so she could film the final stages of his masterpiece.
In between cackles, he is heard telling his former beauty editor wife that he drew on ‘winged liner’ in a bid to make the unicorn prettier.

‘That’s the beauty of life sometimes, wouldn’t have wanted it any other way Welcome to the family, UniDonkey. We love you for you,’ he continued.
‘Having said that, we will maul you tomorrow. Goodnight friends.’
He also noted that this cake proved to be ‘a new record’ as he spent a total of 8 hours preparing it.
In May, Hamish pulled out all the stops in a bid to make a Pikachu-themed creation for son Sonny’s seventh birthday, which took him more than seven hours to complete.
He’s been wowing fans with his epic cake creations for his daughter Rudy and son Sonny’s birthdays each year.

In 2020, Hamish revealed his son wanted a cake inspired by the Cave Of Wonders from Aladdin, complete with a glowing mouth cave and eyes.
‘This year it’s a classic, the Cave Of Wonders from Aladdin, you know, the cave he goes into to get the lamp (you know). The mouth glows. The eyes glow,’ he explained at the time.
‘Sonny has asked this faithfully be recreated. I have a little idea brewing involving a torch, so I’m getting pumped,’ Hamish gushed at the time.

In 2019, it took Hamish six hours to make Sonny a motorised Velociraptor cake, which was built on a Lego frame.
Sonny’s brief had been for the dinosaur’s tail to hit him in the face, and of course Hamish delivered, as well as placing as a large volcano cake on the side.
In 2018, Hamish created a Ghostbusters-themed green ghost slime cake which spewed ‘ectoplasm’ in the form of bright green icing.
The comedian’s wife Zoë also took to Instagram at the time to share a photo of the aftermath of the slime-ing, which showed the tot covered in green goo.
Three years ago, the radio funnyman whipped up an elaborate Disney-themed cake for his son Sonny’s third birthday, depicting Mack the truck from the movie Cars.
When Sonny was two, Hamish created a Thomas The Tank Engine cake for the tot.
