Cleaning star Mrs Hinch, whose real name is Sophie Hinchliffe, garnered popularity after sharing her cleaning tips and recommendations on social media and TV. The cleaning enthusiast has managed to gain over 4.1 million followers on Instagram. Now, fans of hers have created their own social media groups dedicated to cleaning and tidying tips.

On one of these groups, with more than 100,000 members, one woman wanted to know how to clean the inside of her oven.

Lou Ellis wrote: “I’ve had a disaster in my new oven!

“Sausages have caused such a mess and I don’t know how to fix it, especially as it appears to be caked on.

“I have been able to use Barkeepers Friend and a hob blade to remove all from the bottom which was a huge success but I don’t know how to do the roof and sides – also nervous about damaging the oven too. What would you recommend please?”

Alisa Thompson Carr recommended a mixture of cheap household products.

She said: “I saw something on that new house cleaning programme called Clean it, Fix it at 3pm on BBC One. Was surprised that it was a mixture of baking powder (not soda) and vinegar and the gunk just came off.”

Lorraine Edge wrote: “Warm the oven up, measure 100 millilitres of white vinegar, adding eight teaspoons of baking powder gradually stirring in, apply oven areas with an abrasive sponge. Wipe off.”

Helen Rapple Byrne commented: “I often use jay cloths soaked in really hot water and stick them to the sides to soften the grease, then use some elbow grease spray.”

Joanne Miller-Robinson posted an image of a product called Oven Mate, found in Lakeland.

She wrote: “This is amazing! I paint it on at night and wipe it off in the morning.”

Lorraine Strowger said: “Dissolve two dishwasher tablets in boiling water, let it go cold, put in spray bottle then spray oven. Leave for 15 minutes then wipe.”

Cassie Goymer added: “Big bowl of boiled water and put oven on. Let water boil and the steam will remove it.”

Some Mrs Hinch fans recommended taking the trays out of the oven to properly clean it.

Vicki Cooper said: “The sides you should be able to clean but check first. And the racking at the sides should come out.”

Jeannette Boxall Nee-Alchin wrote: “The side bars that hold the trays remove.”

Amanda Clarke added: “Unscrew the brackets and then scrub with Brillo pads. Dead easy!”
