‘Guys I’ve had loads of messages asking if I’m okay, so yeah I’m absolutely fine,’ he began.

‘Basically last night when I was driving home from the gym, a bus came across me and I’ve had a lot of messages… people knowing what it’s like to just be always in a rush to get to places.’

Thankfully, the car’s air bags prevented him from injury or the worst case scenario.

‘[The] bus basically came across me and he’s braked hard because he went over a speed bump and then I’ve went into the sorta side of the back of him,’ he said.

‘I don’t know how I’m okay. Air bikes are obviously a good thing. But yeah, I’m okay. We move, but obviously the car’s damaged. It was a rental anyway, so it doesn’t really matter.

He continued: ‘Wouldn’t matter anyway to me. The main thing is that I’m okay. So thank you for the love.’

Anton last made headlines in August when he hit out at the show that made him famous, saying Love Island ‘gives a false sense of the real world’.

The reality star, who appeared on the fifth series in 2019, criticised the structure of the show for being ‘false’, saying the couples can’t fall in love before dating for longer, and insisted it sets too high a standard for young viewers to aspire to.

Speaking to hosts Bobby Norris and Stephen Leng on FUBAR Radio’s Access All Areas, Anton said: ‘What I don’t like about Love Island is the way it portrays love.’

He continued: ‘These kids again are watching these luxurious dates where you’re going on a helicopter, you’re landing down, you know, on an island and you’re having a little picnic. And they think this is normal life.

‘Then when their boyfriends are taking them to McDonald’s drive-through, they wonder why their relationships aren’t working, because they’re looking up to those guys.’

Picking apart the structure of the show, he added: ‘When is it realistic that you’re in love with someone before you start dating someone?

‘You’re almost doing things in the opposite way. It’s almost set up to fail effectively.’

Anton coupled-up with Belle Hassan on Love Island in 2019 but the couple split just five weeks after they landed back in the UK.

And, while he insisted he appeared in the genuine hope of finding love, Anton said it’s clear to see people’s intentions for taking part have changed, with people wanting to cash in on their fame once the show ends.

The gym owner was approached to audition by programme creators and, while he admitted he thought it could boost his career, he didn’t want to trample on other people’s hearts to get ahead in the game.

He recently revealed that the only Islander he still speaks to is 31-year-old pharmacist Anna Vakili.
