    “And what you want for Mediterranean herbs is poor growing conditions.

    “So spent compost is for them ideal if it is gritty enough.”

    He proceeded to put some in the bottom and he recommended mixing it 50-50 with a normal peat-free compost.

    For his Mediterranean garden, Monty chose a type of rosemary called Miss Jessopp’s Upright, which he placed in the middle of the Terracotta pot.
