Poland prepares for attack TONIGHT – fears of major assault as thousands gather

The worrying development came amid ongoing tensions with its eastern neighbour Belarus which has been accused of pushing thousands of migrants towards the EU state. Now Polish Border Force guards claim that Belarusian forces are giving desperate migrants weapons before instructing them how best to force their way into the EU state.

If it materialises it would put them in direct conflict with almost 15,000 heavily armed Polish troops who have been rushed to the border to keep them out.

With weapons on both sides, a bloody conflict would be likely to ensue.

It is understood the migrants have been directed to attack the border at Kuznica, one of two main crossing points from Poland to Belarus.

A Polish Border Force spokesman told MailOnline: “After a ‘quiet’ night in the vicinity of the camp in Kuznica, we are currently observing that more groups of armed officers of Belarusian services are located in the place.

“Our forces are ready for action.”

The latest development came just a day after Belarusian soldiers were accused of facilitating mass incursions of migrants into Poland.

Polish forces detained 77 people – although an unknown number successfully passed through into the EU where they will no doubt claim asylum.

Security Services Minister Stanislaw Zaryn said that “more people are appearing on the side of Belarus at the border with Poland, escalating the situation”.

Posting a photo of a uniformed man on Twitter, he said: “This man fired shots in the air, then tried to damage the Polish border barrier.”

Earlier today the Polish Prime Minister called on NATO to take “concrete steps” to resolve the issue.

He told a press conference: “It is not enough just for us to publicly express our concern – now we need concrete steps and the commitment of the entire alliance.”

In a show of solidarity the British Army has sent engineers to help Poland shore up its frontier.

Meanwhile, in an apparent show of aggression Russian paratroopers have carried out a military exercise close to the border.
