Queen health update: Monarch pulls out of another event – Aides 'pushing her too hard'

The Queen, 95, has been under doctors’ orders to rest during the past three weeks after undergoing preliminary tests and spending a night in hospital on October 20. Buckingham Palace has said it is the monarch’s “firm intention” to be at the Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph, but her attendance has yet to be confirmed. Royal expert Angela Mollard has since revealed there has been “a lot of beef” with palace aides for pushing the monarch “too hard”.

Speaking to Australian morning programme Sunrise, Ms Mollard said: “You’ll have to hope she makes it.

“She’s pulled out of a Saturday event; a festival that always happens the day before Remembrance Sunday.

“This is very important to her.

“She usually turns up at the Cenotaph. I think she will want to position herself there this weekend.

“I think she will want to be seen on this occasion.

“Just the speculation around her health isn’t great for the monarchy as a whole and there has been a lot of beef with royal courtiers in terms of them pushing her too hard and crticism from commentators that she needs more time off.

“She’s had this rest, she’s been to Sandringham, she’s come back to Windsor and I think we will see her.”

It comes as the Prince of Wales reassured a bystander about the health of the Queen as he met members of the public in Brixton.

Charles was greeted by crowds of people as he left a branch of NatWest bank in south London after an engagement for the Prince’s Trust on Thursday.

She pulled out of a trip to Northern Ireland and also missed the Cop26 climate summit in Glasgow.

The Queen, who lived through the Second World War as a teenager, is head of the armed forces and attaches great importance to the poignant Remembrance Sunday service, which this year falls on November 14 – the Prince of Wales’s 73rd birthday.

The monarch is already confirmed to be missing the annual Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday evening.

Concern for the head of state has been heightened, given her age, but she was well enough to travel by helicopter to Sandringham in Norfolk on November 4 for her long planned private weekend away, where she was seen, in her trademark off duty headscarf, being driven around the estate.
