The Block's Scott Cam: Viewers call for him to be FIRED after he defended judges' harsh criticisms

Scott Cam threw his support behind The Block’s judging panel over the weekend after critics claimed they should be fired for dishing out unfairly harsh criticism.

And it seems Scott, 58, has also found himself in the firing line, as some fans of the show are now saying he should be replaced as well.

The Nine star, who has hosted The Block for over a decade, defended judges Shaynna Blaze, Neale Whitaker and Darren Palmer in an interview with News.com.au on Saturday, insisting that their harsh criticisms were necessary for contestants’ success.

Some Facebook users weren’t satisfied with this response, however, with one writing: ‘Sack the lot, even Scott as well.’

‘Sack the whole bloody show!’ another agreed.

Other users had more specific complains about the show’s long-time host, with one writing: ‘Get rid of Scott (the rudest man ever) and all the judges and that bl**dy Shelley who I can’t stand, and the show might be alright.’

One critic simply claimed that The Block has overstayed its welcome on Australian television, writing: ‘Just end the show now. It was great the first few seasons but now it’s just overkill.’

Scott has previously spoken about his desire to retire, telling TV Week magazine in 2019 that he’d been thinking more seriously about his next career move.

‘I might be in trouble – another three years and I will be 60. That’s staying in one show for a long time,’ the former construction worker said.

‘I was thinking about it the other day, ‘What is going to happen next?”

However, it seems Scott still has a few more years left up his sleeve, as The Block has been renewed for another three years after smashing this year’s ratings war.

It comes after Scott was forced to defend the show’s judges, after some of the stars made the bold claims upon receiving harsh criticism for their rooms.

‘The judges gave very constructive criticism,’ Scott told News Corp on Saturday, adding: ‘The judges want them to make money, I want them to make money.’

‘The biggest thing that I would hate to see is somebody working that hard and not making a quid.’

Scott went on to explain that a lot of egos get hurt during the judging process, before defending the judges’ role.

‘When the judges do go hard, they bruise some egos of the contestants, and they get upset and cranky at the judges and want them replaced, but at the end of the day the judges are right,’ he said.

The judges had a number of blow-ups with contestants this season – including with Josh and Luke Packham and Mitch and Mark.

In September, Mitch and Mark were left seething after criticism of their kitchen and pantry.

After the design trio branded the layout ‘really dumb’ and ‘insane’ during the reveal with the pair opting for just a fridge and pantry ‘drawers’ for storage.

Mitch stormed off the set and told them to ‘go f**k yourselves’ in an explosive piece to camera.

Judges Neale, Shaynna and Darren thought it was a glaring oversight to have gone without a designated pantry, and instead relied on a fridge and drawers for storage.

‘I’m supposed to listen to them? Yeah go f**k yourselves. I’m not interested in the feedback,’ Mitch quipped.

Mitch added in a piece to camera that their comments are ‘pretty stupid’.

‘I have no respect for the judges, so I shouldn’t let somebody hurt me who I had no respect for in the first place,’ he said.

Luke and Josh Packham were also left fuming a number of times this year, including for their messy house.
