Charlize made her first appearance as cyberterrorist Cipher in 2017’s The Fate of the Furious.

She reprised her role in F9 and recently screened the flick at a benefit for her Africa Outreach Project (CTAOP).

In an interview with Variety, Theron celebrated the film’s success, saying, ‘It’s amazing. Just thinking about the fact that they’re on their ninth movie, that’s pretty impressive. It’s a perfect movie to help us come back.’

Charlize talked about getting her start in show business during an interview with The New York Times in 2008. She said: ‘I went to New York for three days to model, and then I spent a winter in New York in a friend’s windowless basement apartment.

‘I was broke, I was taking class at the Joffrey Ballet, and my knees gave out. I realized I couldn’t dance anymore, and I went into a major depression.

‘My mom came over from South Africa and said, ‘Either you figure out what to do next or you come home, because you can sulk in South Africa.”

Not long after that in 1994 Theron’s mom bought her a one-way ticket to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams in the film industry.

She nailed her first non-speaking role in the 1995 horror film Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest, but her breakout role wouldn’t be until the 1997 horror-drama The Devil’s Advocate.
